At Menucha Classrooms, we understand how difficult it can be to navigate today’s rapidly changing world of children's literature. That’s why we created a curated collection of vetted secular books — titles that our team has reviewed, evaluated, and approved for your school’s standards.
Each book is assigned a Content Level from 1 to 4 so educators can confidently choose appropriate material for their students.
We rank book titles on a scale of 1-4 and have listed detailed comments for reference.

Level One
These books contain no concerning material of any kind. They are typically picture books and early-reader chapter books that are universally suitable for classroom use. -
Level Two
Books at this level may include:- • Mild language such as “stupid” or “crazy”
- • General references to technology or media
- • Mentions of secular holidays

Level Three
These books may include:- • Slightly stronger language such as “heck,” “darn,” etc.
- • Words like “flirt” or “romance”
- • Minor boy/girl social interactions

Level Four
Books at this level may contain:- • A larger amount of mild or moderate language
- • Situations of immodesty or boy/girl interaction
- • Elements that require awareness but do not compromise the overall appropriateness of the story
Importantly, these books are not altered or edited in any way. They have been reviewed and determined to be acceptable when educators are aware of the included sensitivities.
